Terrain Summary | Both courses visit a mixture of the parkland and quiet residential areas in Movilla. Please see the safety briefing below.
Previous Maps/Routegadget | This area is newly mapped, and this is the first club event to be organised in this location, so there are no previous maps or routes to look at.
Course Notes | Long Course – approx 4km
Short Course – approx 2km Dogs are permitted on the course, but are not permitted on any of the marked sports pitches. This includes a pitch adjacent to the start area. Competitors are permitted to cross pitches. |
||||||||||||
First Aid and Safety | Long and short courses visit residential areas, but only competitors on the long course will encounter a (busy) road crossing. This crossing is mandatory will be manned, so there is no age limit on the long course (the road itself will be marked out-of-bounds, however the pavement on both sides may be used). Despite this, competitors on both courses must exercise caution on the quieter side roads around vehicles and pedestrians.
Watch out for other park users. There will be a first aid and a qualified first aider available at registration. Registration is also a safe place for lost children to wait. Please do not come to the event if you are unwell. Please bring and carry any medication you might need, especially inhalers and EpiPen’s. If you come across an injured or ill person, please stop, help and get further help. There will likely be qualified first aiders on the course who can stop to provide support. All participants must return to download, whether they complete the course or not. This is to account for all competitors, ensuring everyone’s safe return. Courses will close and controls collected in at 8.30pm sharp. If you are still out on the course at this time return to finish and download immediately. |
||||||||||||
Kit requirements | Decision to wear full leg cover is left to the competitor. Shorts are permissible.
A waterproof jacket may be mandatory if the weather is particularly poor. The organiser will signpost this on the night, if necessary. Dogs are permitted in the carpark and on the course, however common sense control of dogs applies. |
||||||||||||
Parking | Main carpark, off Portaferry Road. Assembly will be adjacent to carpark.
The carpark appears to be always very busy – so please take care with young children – so if full the next best suggestion is to park at the Tesco Extra c.500 metres away. Need a ride to the event? Join our WhatsApp car share group and request a lift (LVO members only). |
||||||||||||
Toilets |
WC available inside the main park building. Please be courteous as we have not pre-arranged access to the council’s facilities.
Public WC also available on Mill Street – open till 9 pm. |
