Event Description

WENT 8 – Ballymena

Our 8th Wednesday Evening Night Training is set to take place at Ballymena.

This is a fun, social and not so secret competitive activity with Ballymena Runners. A new map of Ballymena Centre is being used and we will be using real controls on a Score Course – runners will have 45 minutes to collect as many controls (points) as possible. There will be a points deduction for those out for more than 45 minutes.

Can the map reading skills of Lagan Valley Orienteers out score the Ballymena Runners who ‘run the town’ and should know it inside out?

Kit

Please wear Hi-Viz clothing.

Head torch – let us know beforehand if you need to borrow one.

Dibber – these can also be borrowed.

Please come appropriately dressed for the conditions, if weather is poor a waterproof jacket, full body cover and whistle may be mandatory. If cold, layer up and consider a hat, gloves and buff.

Safety

This is an urban course with road crossings. Planning has taken into account busy roads with safe crossing points marked on the map, optimal routes will use these crossing points. Please give way to other pedestrian and vehicular traffic and adhere to the highway code. Juniors aged U16 must be accompanied for the entire course with an adult. Dogs are not advised.
