Entries for Colour Series, Camping and Barbeque

Pre-entry is required. Entries are now open on SI entries (entries close on Wednesday 23rd June 2021 at 20:00). Enter here | Edit entries here | Entry list here.

In order to reduce the congregation of people at the start there are start windows of 15 minutes. Please indicate which start window you prefer.

Starts are from 11:00 to 13:00 and the course will close at 15:00.

Registration will be at the Mobile Orienteering Office (MOO) which will be parked in the family camping area adjacent to the toilet block (which will be open).

NIOA AGM

The Northern Ireland Orienteering Association Annual General Meeting will be held at 15:00 in the camping field (weather permitting). This will include the unveiling and presentation of the Colin Henderson Trophy for services to orienteering. This is a new trophy in honour of the late Colin Henderson MBE who played such a part in all aspects of orienteering.

Barbeque

The Barbeque follows at 17:00 and will be provided by The Mulberry Tree. Please indicate on SI Entries your preference for meat or vegetarian. You may wish to bring your own cups, plates and cutlery to reduce single use plastic.

Barbeque costs £12 for adult and £6 for juniors under 12.

Boules

There will be a Boules knock out tournament – if you have a set of boules please bring them with you and we can run several matches at the same time.

Camping

Camping is available for the Saturday evening. Cost is £6 per adult, again please book on SI entries. Note you do not have to enter the orienteering competition in order to book camping and BBQ.

Camping is not arranged for the Friday evening in the group campsite, it is only booked for the Saturday evening. Apologies for those who wished to stay on the Friday. There may be availability in the Tollymore main campsite.

Junior Training, Fun Score and MapRun6 Activities

Sunday morning will have Junior training, and at 11:00 there will be a fun score activity. For the Score, you have 1 hour to visit as many controls as you can, penalties for late return.

If you want even more of an orienteering fix, then there are also three MapRun6 courses available in Newcastle, two linear courses of orange standard and a Scatter Course (like a score but without a time limit), for details see: https://www.niorienteering.org.uk/diy-orienteering-in-co-down/

Life saving, CPR and Defib Training/Demo

Would you like to know how to help save the life of a fellow runner or family member who is suffering a respiratory or cardiac arrest? Any of us could end up being the first on the scene, the actions of a first responder are so important before a designated first aider arrives.

Ric hopes to bring along a training dummy and defibrillator and carry out basic training/demonstration to anyone interested. Meeting in camping field, probably near MOO at 14.30.
