Notes/Courses πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Groups will be organised into people with the same level of technical ability, each having a dedicated coach:
O-Play – for children in P3 and under, accompanied by their parents.
βšͺ🟑 Technical Difficulty (TD) 1 and 2 (White and Yellow) Easy courses with all controls mostly on linear features such as paths, walls and streams. Suitable for P4 children and above and adult newcomers who want a gentle introduction to orienteering.
🟠 TD 3 (Orange) Courses use basic use of a compass and route choice. Ideal for novice orienteers or young juniors with experience (ideally aged 10 and above). On this occasion all groups will be training on TD3 terrain, with the focus for experienced orienteers on making fast decisions.
Kit requirements πŸ§₯πŸ‘–Β  On this occasion full body cover NOT is mandatory but is advisable. Shorts and singlets are permissible, but extra layers should be brought. However if the weather is cold or wet, a waterproof jacket will be mandatory. As well as times of exercise there will be periods of coaching when you will be stationary, so layer up. Bring along a hat and gloves to keep comfortable. There is likely to be a bag drop off point with a coach present or close by. NOTE: the club or coach is not responsible for the safe keeping of the kit, it is dropped off at your own risk, so please leave any valuables in the car. On this occasion whistles are not mandatory.

The campus is part urban but also part parkland, so footwear with good grip is avdisable. However footwear with metal studs is not permitted.

Bring a compass if you use and have one. Some base plate and thumb compasses will be available to borrow and try out.

We will be using SI, so please bring a SI card (dibber) if you have one. There will be SI cards to borrow for those who do not have one. For some of the exercises SIAir will be enabled, so a SIAC would be useful.

Parking We have permission for free parking in the main carpark at Stranmillis College. Drive through the main gates off the Stranmillis Roundabout and the security personell will direct you to turn left to park in the main car park. Then walk uphill on the footpath to the right side of the avenue leading up from the carpark. We will meet in the foyer of the Central Building, which is the second building on the left. Allow 5 minutes to walk from the carpark or the main gate.
Toilets Toilets are availble in the foyer at Central Building, at Betty’s Cafe.
