There will be four courses to pick from this year rather than the three we previously put on, so definitely something for everyone:

🟡Yellow, 1.9km and 90m climb –  a beginner course specifically suited to children or families to explore together

🟠Orange, 2.1km and 90m climb –  an improvers course, for children with orienteering experience or beginner adults who want a bit more adventure off the beaten track.

🟢Short Green, 2.5km and 120m climb –  a technically challenging course but not too long and physical.

🔵Short Blue, 4.3km and 150m climb –  a longer and more physical, technically difficult course.

A 1:10,000 scale, 5m contour interval will be in use for all courses.

Yellow and Orange courses will have text and symbol control descriptions available.
Additional course Notes:

Short Blue: will require competitors to cross a dry stone wall.  Some sections of the wall are lined with barbed wire.  They should take care not to cause damage themselves or the wall when crossing.

There are some horses and long horn cows on the hill side.

Competitors should consider the rough and technical nature of the area when selecting a course appropriate to their ability.

Registration/Start/Finish

Registration at Equestrian Centre.

Start Times  11:00-13:00

Starts are 1.2km (15-20mins) up the Bann Road (mountain vehicle track) from the car park. The Finish is 0.9k from the car park.  Competitors need to use the main road for 50m to access Bann Road and should exercise care when doing so.

Parking

Parking at the Gamekeepers Lodge Equestrian Centre near Attical off the B27.

There will be a £3 parking charge per vehicle. This is collected in a courtesy box – please have the correct change.

You must park immediately left after entering the yard. Saturday is the Centre’s busy day and we must leave as much room as possible for their customers, many of whom will be towing horse-boxes.

Toilets and facilities

There is 1 Toilet at Equestrian Centre.

There is a café which is normally open on Saturday.

Registration/Start/Finish

Registration at Equestrian Centre.

Starts are 850m up the Bann Road (mountain vehicle track) from the car park. Competitors need to use the main road for 50m to access Bann Road and should exercise care when doing so.

Whistles and full leg cover is mandatory. Also bring along a waterproof top may also be mandatory if forecast is unkind.

Sorry no dogs allowed. This is a grazed area and there are dogs on site at the equestrian centre.
