Spring Cup 1 – Meelmore

Hi everyone. We’re looking forward to seeing a good turnout at Meelmore tomorrow. Don’t forget we’re doing a kit check at the Start so make sure you have you waterproof, hat and whistle. The ground will be waterlogged and quite slippery so boots or shoes with good grip are recommended. There’s free parking and showers so I hope lots of you will use the lovely, warm café too.

No IntrO at Woodburn

My planning inspection at Woodburn revealed that the short walk from the parking to the start was through a blasted heath of a felled area – no trailO control sites could be seen, let alone trees!  There will therefore be no IntrO activity at Woodburn tomorrow.  The results and updated standings from the Lady Dixon PreO are available here    The updated NISeries tables following Portstewart last weekend can be found here   Several classes have already been won after 5 events – congratulations to those highlighted in red!

Rachel’s Lagganlia Report

Day 1- After an early start to the catch our plane, a short visit to Edinburgh and a 3hr train journey, Andrew and I finally arrived in Aviemore. Here we met our coaches and fellow orienteers along with a heavy rain shower before boarding the minibuses to Lagganlia. On arriving we were shown our rooms along with the unlimited supplies of biscuits and toast. After dinner we took part in some ice-breakers, courtesy of Brian and Brenda the bears, before spending some futher time getting to know each other and heading to bed. Day 2- Day 2 consisted of an Read More …

Junior Scottish 6 Days and International Selection

A number of our juniors took part in the Scottish 6 Days near Inverness this year. They all did extremely well given the challenging levels of both the terrain and of the courses themselves, many of which ran on the same areas being used in the World Orienteering Championships underway at the same time. You can see all the results at the following link. We have also just found out that the following club juniors have been selected to race for Ireland at the forthcoming Junior Home Internationals at Magilligan in Oct this year. This is a fantastic achievement and represents lots Read More …

NI Series Tables after 4 events

The NISeries tables are available for viewing on the NIOA web site, under the “Results” link or alternatively are available here in the LVO archive.  LVO’s use of the Meelmore event for its club championship has meant that quite a few folk now appear in more than one class, so care is needed over the remaining events to ensure that you have the 4 events needed to count in the final analysis. As ever, only current NIOA members receive points for their efforts.  The non-members are listed in the hope that they will join up  – the incentive is that Read More …

Colour Standards List

The half-year colour standards listing can be viewed here     It shows your current standard i.e. your best 3 results (they are in capitals) in the 12 months up to the most recent event as well as your best standard achieved this year.  In brackets at the end of the row is the best standard that you’ve ever achieved. There are some highlighted names in the list.  These are folk who haven’t renewed their membership for 2015 (at least according to the latest membership list that I have).  It’s easier to keep them in until the end of the year and Read More …

IntrO Standings now up-to-date

The IntrO folder has been updated with the TempO results from Donard, Meelmore and Tollymore and the extracted LVO PreO results from ITOC at Aberdelghy.  The standings have also been brought up -to-date.  The folder can be found here Double 2014 Champion Declan is under pressure in both disciplines.  Can he steady the ship through the autumn activity?

IntrO this weekend

The IntrO activity this weekend will consist of 2 seperate TempO clusters, both counting towards the club TempO Championship. The first will be at Meelmore Lodge.  The holding point from which you will be called forward is on the grass area to the west of the now-fenced-off toilet block.  The cluster will be available from 11:00 until 13:00 so make sure you take it in before venturing on to your colour course. The second will be at Foley’s Bridge in Tollymore Forest.  That is directly below the gate of the campsite and will be signposted from there.  The holding point Read More …

Missing Water Barrel

Appeal for help! Does anyone know the whereabouts of the club water barrel (the one with a tap) which cannot be found in Kilwee or in the MOO? Its last known whereabouts were (we think!) at Donard for Spring Cup 3. If you know where the barrel is hiding out, please let Helen or Philip know. No reward – only the thanks of thirsty club members following their runs (especially if this good weather continues). Don’t forget – the next WEE will be in Castle Gardens, Antrim, on Wed 17th June. This lovely park is well worth the trip so Read More …
