International Representation for LVO Junior Athletes

When you first take a map in your hand to tackle a short WEE course or a white course in a colour series you may not know where it will lead – literally or figuratively! For two of LVO’s junior athletes it has led to Bulgaria this summer. FRIDAY 22nd JUNE – UPDATE! The organisers have sufficient maps to make entry on the day available for all orienteering events. (Entries closed at midnight on Wednesday 20th June 2018 for the BBQ and camping). Note the Trail-O on Sunday will include the LVO Trail-O Championship.

The popular WEE series returns in 2018 to the competitive format of Long and Short courses with handicapped results and league tables.  The first of which will be in Ormeau Park.  Monthly prizes for league winners and runners up. As well as a midweek leg stretch and bit of craic we like to use the WEEs to introduce, train and bring on new organisers and planners. Trophy Return & Steve McGibbon Trophy Nominations

In preparation for the prize giving at the AGM on 24th March could you please return your club trophies to Gordon Simpson at Hillsborough this weekend. Steve McGibbon Trophy Nominations The Steve McGibbon Trophy is named in memory of a hugely respected orienteer and stalwart of Lagan Valley Orienteers, who unfortunately died in 2006 aged only 51.   The trophy is not focussed on competition performance, rather the award is considered as recognition of the person or group thought to have provided the most outstanding contribution to the club’s affairs in the previous year.  Nominations should be sent to the Secretary, Cecil Armstrong, secretary@lvo.org.uk Read More …
