The Scottish Six Day orienteering event is currently underway and there are four under 14 juniors from LVO there. This event is held every two years and is a top notch competition. In 2015 it will run alongside the World Championships so that is something for you all to aim for. 5 Peaks Success
N Ireland – Slieve Donard 850m Congratulations to Andrew E who this weekend (19 – 21 Jul 13) completed the last of the highest peaks in the 5 British Isle’s nations. Something that not a lot of people have done never mind 11 year olds. Tollymore Festival
Outstanding in their filed The juniors had a great weekend of orienteering in South Down over the 21 – 23 Jun. It started on the Fri night with an urban race round Newcastle. The colour series race was held on Sat and was followed by junior training with a chance to practice a stat course based on compass work. Tollymore Weekend 21 – 23 Jun 13
More details are out about about the Tollymore Weekend of Orienteering (http://lvo.jimdo.com/tollymore-festival-of-orienteering/). There will be plenty of racing going on with events on Friday night (Urban race) and on Saturday and Sunday as well. Online entries can be found at http://www.fabian4.co.uk/default.aspx?EventID=86. Trust the Compass
Getting ready to enter the woods Luke returns successfully 10 Juniors took part in compass training at Hillsborough Forest Park. This was an extension of the cones exercise from the last session. Like the cones exercise the course was made from a grid of 9 control sites but this time they were in the forest and some 50 – 100m apart. Juniors had loop courses to complete.
