🍂Autumn Trophy Report and Seasonal Prize Draw

The Sun Shines on Lead Mines

🌞 Whitespots Country Park and the adjoining forest around Helen’s tower at Clandeboye, provided a perfect setting for the Autumn Trophy. With a glorious sun, perhaps too warm until the forested parts of the course, competitors were treated to a range of tough but fair courses from James Earnshaw, trying to take account of the active undergrowth that just seemed to never stop growing in the planning stages.

😵 The myriad of tracks, criss-crossing and fading in and out, defied relying on them as the easier route choice and helped make heads scratch and keep decisions sharp around the old leads mines and some beautiful beech forest. The maps had been made large and clear to help, so that those running from control 3 on to control 14 instead of 4 had no one to blame but themselves.

👏Congratulations to Billy Reed on winning the Short Blue course. Sean Nolan, who only took up orienteering last year, on finishing first on the Light Green. Lauren Howe was fastest over the Orange, and Poppy Reed won the Yellow course.

As the Autumn Trophy is a Lagan Valley Club Competition the club winners are:

🔵Short Blue – Billy Reed and Steph Pruzina

🟢Light Green – Fionne Austin and Denis Murphy

🟠Orange – Joanne Graham

🟡Yellow – Dylan Kennedy

👍Well done the course and club winners. Thank you to all who participated and particular thanks to Mark Earnshaw (Organiser), James Earnshaw(Planner) and Ann Savage (Controller) and their band of merry volunteers helping with the likes of IT support, mapping and printing, starts, control collection and first aid.
