📝This is an important meeting not only for you to hear about the successes, development and direction of the club but also to provide you with the opportunity to contribute your thoughts and ideas. Here is a link to the Chairperson’s Report which sits in the AGM folder of the Public LVO OneDrive.
🏃♂️As Chair I promise to keep things running along swiftly and to get through the itinerary as efficiently as possible.
🙋♀️During the meeting a new committee will be elected. We would especially welcome new members who are fairly new to the club to gain your valuable insight. We recognise that women and Under 40s are underrepresented too. If you are interested in joining, please make me or another committee member aware of your intention to support in this way. The commitment is – we meet online once every 2 months and the meetings usually take about 90 min-2 hours. In between the meetings we work in groups or on tasks to help spread out the work load, reporting back on progress in the next meeting.
👏This AGM will not be all heavy stuff, we will have the chance to celebrate our members. Four separate awards will be given to: Novice Planner, Novice Organiser, Experienced Planner and Experienced Organiser of the year. There are so many possible winners this year which the committee will need to consider carefully.
🏆The most prestigious Annual Club Award is The Steve McGibbon Trophy which is voted on by all members attending the AGM.
The Steve McGibbon Trophy is named in memory of a hugely respected orienteer and stalwart of Lagan Valley Orienteers, who unfortunately died in 2006 aged only 51.The trophy is not focussed on competition performance, rather the award is considered as recognition of the person or group thought to have provided the most outstanding contribution to the club’s affairs in the previous year. Nominations, along with a supporting statement should be sent to the Secretary, Mark Earnshaw, secretary@lvo.org.uk or mark.earnshaw100@googlemail.com, by Tuesday 28th March. Voting will take place at the AGM.
