π Wishing the very best to the NI Junior squad who will be competing in the Junior Interregional Championships (JIRCS) this weekend.
πThe team coached by Steph Pruzina, all come from LVO this year – Sam Graham M14, Luke Gardiner M14, James Ewart M14, Peter Gamble M16, Oliver O’Kane M18, Ben Cairns M18, Dan Murphy M18, Zach Murphy M18, Anastasia Mahlych W16, Chloe Grattan W16.
πThe individual race will be ran on Saturday morning, just before the NI Colour Series event, on the sand dunes of Ballykinler, Tyrella. The relay race will be in the same area on Sunday morning. Thanks to the MoD/Army for allowing us access to such a great area to test our skills.
π€ΈββοΈWe will be entertaining just short of 200 top juniors from across the 12 UK regions, so it will be a busy, exciting place to be. As well as the two orienteering events the juniors will have time to chill out together and dance the night away on Saturday evening at the Ceilidh.
πThank you to all who have been involved in organising and have volunteered to support such a big event. Especially to coordinator Stephen Gilmore, day organisers, Alan & Andrew Elwood and Gavin & Heather Cairns. Also course planners and controllers, Philip Baxter, Billy & Chloe Reed and Brian Johnston. There is an army of volunteers from the amazing LVO membership who have and will do a fantastic job to make this weekend a great success. The task was not made any easier by having to find alternative accommodation, catering and additional transport in last week, thank you to Shimna Integrated College and facilities staff for being so helpful.
πThese last minute change in arrangements have squeezed our volunteers so, if you are coming down for a run on Saturday and can volunteer, even in a small way for a short time, please chat with Alan or someone at registration.
Whether competing or volunteering (or both!), I wish you all a great weekend!
Huge thanks to all the organisers in challenging circumstances! Looks like the young people have had a brilliant weekend.
