Yesterday evening it was the turn of Orangefield Park to be explored, and explored it was in fine detail both by the planners and participants!
π Well done and thank you to all who supported the event either through participation or volunteering with planning and organising.
π Special thanks to young, new planners Norma and Agata, who with their local knowledge had us twisting and turning in every direction, setting a real challenge for even the most experienced orienteer! It was great to see locals and newcomers come enjoy are sport too.
Thanks to coordinator Jane Wilson who put together a great team and those who stepped in to help on the night – Jason, James, Brendy, Olivia, Dave, Colin, Aine, Chris and James. Not forgetting those who set things up beforehand, Sharon for sorting the SI entries and Alan for printing the maps.
With new and novice volunteers and the foibles of IT there are sometimes a few issues on the night to overcome. Last night it was the turn of the computer struggling to read some peoples download, so apologies if your time was not recorded on the results. Let me know if you wish it to be and I will try and make some amendments. Although this added a little ‘excitement’ for our organisers, they kept everything flowing and I think we all had a great evening – super professional and fun!
So, with only one more event to go this month, (taking out the prize winners for the May and June WEEs) here are the present leaders of the August WEE Series:
Long course: Keith Dawson (50 points), Paul Daniels (41) and Glen Richardson and Simon Gardiner (both on 37). Carrie Stewart (51), Helen Baxter and Rachel Church (both on 44) and close behind Cara Lavery (41). Juniors – Luke Gardiner (38), Hannah and Catherine Holland (10).
Short course: Liam Mangan (19 points). Rene Mullin (19). Juniors – Harry Watt (54 points), Marcus Richardson (40) and Sam Lennox (33).
π€ΈββοΈReally excited about the last WEE of the summer. At Belvoir we plan to give out prizes to the winners of all three months of the WEE and enjoy a hotdog together – don’t miss out and get entered now!
