  1. The turnout at the Carnfunnock event was a little disappointing, but 39 competitors enjoyed the orienteering in glorious sunshine. Wilbert and I were a little short of manpower, having no designated Organiser, but with help from on-the-day recruits and Sid Green who answered the call on Saturday, the event ran fairly smoothly. So, it’s a big thank you to all those who stepped up to the mark. Sid for turning up early, helping to set up start and finish and then manning the start. Alan for putting on his usual excellent Pre-O event and standing in at downloads as the need arose. Thanks also to Billy Reed and Conor McKernon, who once again volunteered to collect controls when the event was over. After the event, it is thanks to Mark Pruzina and Jeff Johnston for posting results on RouteGadget and this web site.

As a club, I think that we need to demystify the job of Organiser. We can usually find an extra volunteer to tow the MOO and help is always at hand to set up and run the registration and results computers. Results are often published by Mark and Jeff. The Controller is there to mentor the Organiser as well as the Planner. With all of that assistance, the rest of the job is easy! So, if the call comes to help run a club event, don’t be overly concerned with the technical and practical aspects of organising. Help is always at hand.
