Be Bug Aware! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ•ท๐ŸฆŸ

Although July is traditionally a rest month for organised Orienteering activity, hopefully you are able to get out and enjoy a good hill run or a walk through the forest.

With the good weather, you will know to keep well hydrated and to cover up from the sun but have you thought about protecting yourself from ticks?

Although not as active in the middle of summer, they are can be picked up all year round, especially in grassy areas where there is grazing. You are not likely to feel them bite into you, and burying their little heads.

These little beasties may not sting like a bee, bite like a horsefly or be as irritating as the midge but they can transfer Lyme disease which can have lasting ill effects. (There isn’t a tick emoji, so the closest thing was an octopus ๐Ÿ™which resembles a fully fed tick with a belly full of you.)

A quick Tick tick list to help protect you:

โœ”wear full body cover

โœ”use insect repellent

โœ”check clothing and body after your run/walk

โœ”use a tick removal tool
