The more observant may have noticed fixtures for 2019 starting to appear on the BOF (British Orienteering Federation) and LVO websites. At club level this is a work in progress but for all the major events dates and venues are all confirmed, so get those diaries out.
We are still working on venues for club events, so if there’s somewhere you’d really like to get a run out on (or somewhere you want to avoid!!) drop a comment below.
Also note at a club level the Spring Cup and Autumn Trophy are provisional dates that may change once venues are confirmed so make sure you check again closer to the time.
I also feel I should give a little word of explanation as it appears few club members are aware of the BOF fixture list and those who do don’t like to use it. For all sorts of reasons including insurance we must register all ‘events’ with BOF so that list will always be there in the background as a master – assuming the fixture secretary (that’s me) has registered everything. Just to confuse you BOF distinguish between ‘ACTIVITIES’ which are generally training sessions or club get togethers with no published results and ‘EVENTS’ which are more formal with published results. This is primarily for financial reasons as they attract different levies. These are published on two completely separate lists on the BOF website so you will need to check both.
If this sounds confusing don’t worry fixture lists are also published on the NIOA and LVO websites, and much work is currently going on in the background to consolidate these and make them more user friendly – watch this space.
