Urban Sprint, Ballymena, Saturday 14th April

Organiser: Richard Gamble
Planner: Lyle Flemming

Whether you are an experienced orienteer or a novice, young or not so young, Lyle will have designed a course for you on this new map – thanks Bill!
If you are interested in trying orienteering out for the first time, an urban course is less daunting and there will be someone available to literally help point you in the right direction! On the flip side, this new course will be good practice for those planning on entering the sprint at the IOC in Sligo, in a few weeks time.

The courses will be around the Slemish College/Ballee housing estate area. It will be run over mainly paved or grass areas, so running shoes are probably best. Full length trousers will not be necessary. Approximate course lengths: 3.5 km, 2.5 km and 2 km. These distances are as the crow flies. So dependent on route choice expect a little further. The shorter distance will be suitable for under 16’s.

Cost is as follows. You can pay by contactless card, Apple Pay, Android/Google Pay or good old fashioned cash:

  • Senior Member £5 (Non-member £7)
  • Unwaged/Student £3 (Non-member £5)
  • Junior £3 (Non-member £4)
  • Family £13 if run competitively as individuals but please note all courses can be run as a pair/group/family paying for one entry/map only.

Toilets and changing are available.

Thanks to Ursula, there will also be refreshments available – proceeds towards Juniors. So if there are any Mary Berry or Paul Hollywod’s out there, please get baking, your contributions will be gratefully received. Bake, Run (the soggy bottom off), Eat, Repeat!

Registration at Slemish College, Larne Rd, BT42 3HA from 1130. Starts 1200-1300. Course closes at 1430.
