Note that the Medium course would be equivalent to the Long course a t other WEEs and that under 16s may only enter the Short course.\n\nThe Sh ort Course is approximately 2km in length and has relatively simple naviga tion. This is really well suited to children and family groups who are out for an explore. It is also popular with seasoned orienteers who do not wa nt too physical a run.\n\nThe Medium Course (equivalent to the Long course at other WEEs) is approximately 4km in length and the navigation is more challenging. It is best suited for runners looking for more adventure and best suited to adults or juniors who have reached their 16th birthday\, wi th navigational experience.\n\nThe Long Course is approximately 6km in len gth and the navigation is more challenging. It is best suited for runners looking for a longer adventure and best suited to adults or juniors who ha ve reached their 16th birthday\, with navigational experience.\n\n\n\nNI U rban League\n\nHow the NI Urban League works\n\n Similar league set up to the WEE but in urban locations over the whole of NI\, involving all three NI clubs.\n Participants earn league points at each event with the best three results counting.\n The NIUL uses an age- and gender-adjusted scori ng system\, so competitors of different ages and sexes can compete fairly against one another in a single league table.\n Points are calculated fro m adjusted race times\, with the fastest adjusted time receiving the highe st score.\n\nWho can take part?\nThe league is open to:\n\n Experienced o rienteers looking for competitive urban races.\n Beginners and Improvers who want to try navigating in a town or park environment.\n Juniors and a dults of all ages\, with the handicap system helping to level the competit ion.\n\nComing at the end of a WEE Series\, this event is a perfect finale for those interested in seeing where you stand in relation to other club members. It will be a fun step up for regular WEE participants to particip ate in a NI competition. There will likely be qualified first aiders on the course who can stop to provide support.\n\nAll participants must return to download\, whether they complete the course or not. This is to account fo r all competitors\, ensuring everyone’s safe return.\n\nCourses will clo se and controls collected in at 8.30pm sharp.
