Note that the Medium course would be equivalent to the Long course a t other WEEs and that under 16s may only enter the Short course.\n\nThe Sh ort Course is  2.1km in length\, 15m climb with 15 controls and has relat ively simple navigation. This is really well suited to children and family groups who are out for an explore. This course crosses Ballywalter Main S treet using a pelican crossing with a marshall in place.\n\nThe Medium Cou rse (equivalent to the Long course at other WEEs) is  4.3km in length\, 2 5m climb with 15 controls and the navigation is more challenging. It is be st suited for runners looking for more adventure and best suited to adults or juniors who have reached their 16th birthday\, with navigational exper ience. It is also popular with seasoned orienteers who do not want too phy sical a run.\n\nThe Long Course is approximately 5.7km in length\, 40m cli mb with 19 controls and the navigation is more challenging. It is best sui ted for runners looking for a longer adventure and best suited to adults o r juniors who have reached their 16th birthday\, with navigational experie nce.\n\n\n\nNI Urban League\n\nHow the NI Urban League works\n\n Similar league set up to the WEE but in urban locations over the whole of NI\, inv olving all three NI clubs.\n Participants earn league points at each even t with the best three results counting.\n The NIUL uses an age- and gende r-adjusted scoring system\, so competitors of different ages and sexes can compete fairly against one another in a single league table.\n Points ar e calculated from adjusted race times\, with the fastest adjusted time rec eiving the highest score.\n\nWho can take part?\nThe league is open to:\n\ n Experienced orienteers looking for competitive urban races.\n Beginner s and Improvers who want to try navigating in a town or park environment.\ n Juniors and adults of all ages\, with the handicap system helping to le vel the competition.\n\nComing at the end of a WEE Series\, this event is a perfect finale for those interested in seeing where you stand in relatio n to other club members. It will be a fun step up for regular WEE particip ants to participate in a NI competition. Only under 16s may enter th e short course and must use the pelican crossing.\n\n\nFirst Aid and Safet y\nWatch out for members of the public.\n\nThere will be a first aid and a qualified first aider available at registration. Registration is also a s afe place for children to wait.\n\nPlease do not come to the event if you are unwell.\n\nPlease bring and carry any medication you might need\, espe cially inhalers and EpiPen’s.\n\nIf you come across an injured or ill pe rson\, please stop\, help and get further help. There will likely be quali fied first aiders on the course who can stop to provide support.\n\nAll pa rticipants must return to download\, whether they complete the course or n ot. This is to account for all competitors\, ensuring everyone’s safe re turn.\n\nCourses will close and controls collected in at 8.30pm sharp.
