DESCRIPTION:\n\n\nDate\nWednesday 19 August 2026\n\n\nVenue\nBallywalter\n\
 n\nEvent Format\nWEE Lites are slimmed down versions of the Wednesday Even
 ing Event (WEE) Series held in May and June. You get the same quality cour
 ses and a print out of your time and splits but without online results and
  a league table.\n\nThese activities are a great introduction if you are n
 ew to the sport\, or a valuable training opportunity if you are already a 
 dab hand. For those who thrive on competition we also have something for y
 ou\, with the WEE series league table.\n\nEach evening there will be two c
 ourses\, Short and Long.\n\nThe Short Course is approximately 2km in lengt
 h and has relatively simple navigation. This is really well suited to chil
 dren and family groups who are out for an explore. It is also popular with
  seasoned orienteers who do not want too physical a run.\n\nThe Long Cours
 e is approximately 4km in length and is the navigation is more challenging
 . It is best suited for runners looking for more adventure and best suited
  to adults or juniors with navigational experience.\n\n\nOnline Registrati

 tion\, Start and Finish\nRegistration: 6.15pm - 7.15pm. Registration will 
 near the car park. Come here if you need to borrow any equipment e.g. a di
 bber (electronic timing device).\n\nStarts: 6.30pm - 7.30pm. Start will be
  a short walk from registration. If you have registered online and do not 
 need any equipment\, please go directly to the start lane.\n\nCourse Close

  and one junior. Additional juniors go free.\n\nIf you're a member of a NI

 n only have one free entry within the WEE series. If they like the event a
 nd want to come back for more\, they can join our club and pay membership 
 rates\, or pay as a non-member next time.\n\nPlease note: Participants who
  are not members of British Orienteering or of another orienteering federa
 tion are not covered by British Orienteering’s public liability insuranc
 e. You are welcome to enter this event\, but please understand that you ar
 e taking part at your own risk. For example\, if you were to accidentally 
 injure a member of the public or damage property during the event\, you wo
 uld not be covered. Members of Orienteering Ireland are covered by British
  Orienteering insurance. \n\n\nTerrain Summary\nParkland\n\n\nPrevious Ma
 ps/Routegadget\nThis is a new map for most of us to explore!\n\n\nCourse N
 otes\nLong Course – approx 4km\n\nShort Course – approx 2km\n\n\nFirst
  Aid and Safety\nWatch out for other park users.\n\nThere will be a first 
 aid and a qualified first aider available at registration. Registration is
  also a safe place for children to wait.\n\nPlease do not come to the even
 t if you are unwell.\n\nPlease bring and carry any medication you might ne
 ed\, especially inhalers and EpiPen’s.\n\nIf you come across an injured 
 or ill person\, please stop\, help and get further help. There will likely
  be qualified first aiders on the course who can stop to provide support.\
 n\nAll participants must return to download\, whether they complete the co
 urse or not. This is to account for all competitors\, ensuring everyone’
 s safe return.\n\nCourses will close and controls collected in at 8.30pm s
 harp. If you are still out on the course at this time return to finish and
  download immediately.\n\n\nKit requirements\nFull leg cover is recommende
 d to protect against summer growth of briers and nettles.\n\nA waterproof 
 jacket may also be mandatory if the organisers decide the weather requires
  one\, so bring one along just in case.\n\nDogs are permitted in the carpa
 rk and on the course\, however common sense control of dogs applies.\n\n\n
