  Park Main Carpark\n\n\nEvent Format\n\nLagan Valley Orienteers invites yo
 u to a 6-week training course for 9s and over who want to learn how to nav
 igate and orienteer!\n\n\nThis course will run weekly from Sunday 10 May t
 o Sunday 14 June. Places are limited\, so please only sign up if your chil
 d will be able to attend the majority of the sessions.\n\nAll children mus
 t be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the coaching\, up to a ma
 ximum of four children per adult. This is not a drop-off service!\n\nSess
 ions are primarily for children who are aged 9 upwards. If children are yo
 unger\, please check out Running Wild or get in contact with us (email jun
 iors_families@lvo.org.uk) to find out other exciting orienteering opportun
 ities for them.\n\nWe'll meet at either at Tollymore Forest Park's Main Ca

  so please wait until the course starts to become a LVO member.\n\n\nTerra
 in Summary\nTollymore forest is a great place to discover the sport of ori
 enteering. It has a network of paths and tracks to help navigate\, as well
  as runnable forest with a variety of features. The forest is popular with
  hikers\, runners\, dog walkers\, horse riders and mountain bikers\, so ta

 \nThis week we will learning all about aiming off\, as explained in this 
 4-minute video.\n\nWhen you’re navigating to a linear feature (like a 
 path\, stream\, or fence) near your control\, instead of aiming directly
  for the control\, you deliberately aim slightly to one side (left or ri
 ght). This way\, when you hit the linear feature\, you’ll know which di
 rection to turn to reach the control\, because you’ll know which side o
 f it you’re on.\n\n\nKit requirements\n🧥👖 Full body cover is manda
 tory. If the weather is cold or wet – a waterproof jacket will be mandat
 ory. As well as times of exercise there will be periods of coaching when y
 ou will be stationary\, so layer up – bring along an extra jumper\, a ha
 t and gloves to keep comfortable. There is likely to be a bag drop off poi
 nt with a coach present or close by. NOTE: the club or coach is not respon
 sible for the safe keeping of the kit\, it is dropped off at your own risk
 \, so please leave any valuables in the car.\n\nAll should carry whistles.
