  Park Main Carpark\n\n\nEvent Format\n\nLagan Valley Orienteers invites yo
 u to a 6-week training course for 9s and over who want to learn how to nav
 igate and orienteer!\n\n\nThis course will run weekly from Sunday 10 May t
 o Sunday 14 June. Places are limited\, so please only sign up if your chil
 d will be able to attend the majority of the sessions.\n\nAll children mus
 t be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the coaching\, up to a ma
 ximum of four children per adult. This is not a drop-off service!\n\nSess
 ions are primarily for children who are aged 10 to 14. If children are you
 nger\, please check out Running Wild or get in contact with us (email jun
 iors_families@lvo.org.uk) to find out other exciting orienteering opportun
 ities for them.\n\nWe'll meet at either at Tollymore Forest Park's Main Ca

 eering website\, selecting LVO as your club. Cost after 1 May is reduced\,
  so please wait until the course starts to become a LVO member.\n\n\nTerra
 in Summary\nTollymore forest is a great place to discover the sport of ori
 enteering. It has a network of paths and tracks to help navigate\, as well
  as runnable forest with a variety of features. The forest is popular with
  hikers\, runners\, dog walkers\, horse riders and mountain bikers\, so ta
 ke care and treat others with courtesy.\n\n\nPrevious Maps/Routegadget\nTo

 \nThis week will be covering Setting the Map and Cutting Corners. This fiv
 e-minute YouTube video helps explains how to set the map. Cutting corners 
 means choosing a straighter route between two points\, leaving a path to s
 ave on distance. It involves crossing terrain such as open land\, forest\,
  dunes or hills. It can help reduce travel time\, but not always - it depe
 nds on the terrain you're crossing.\n\n\nKit requirements\n🧥👖 Full b
 ody cover is mandatory. If the weather is cold or wet – a waterproof jac
 ket will be mandatory. As well as times of exercise there will be periods 
 of coaching when you will be stationary\, so layer up – bring along an e
 xtra jumper\, a hat and gloves to keep comfortable. There is likely to be 
 a bag drop off point with a coach present or close by. NOTE: the club or c
 oach is not responsible for the safe keeping of the kit\, it is dropped of
 f at your own risk\, so please leave any valuables in the car.\n\nAll shou
 ld carry whistles.\n\nBring a compass if you have one.\n\n\nParking\n£5 a
