 rest Park Main Carpark\n\n\nEvent Format\n\nLagan Valley Orienteers invite
 s you to a 12-week training course for 10s and over who are already orient
 eering to a yellow standard (TD2) and want to progress quickly to orange /
  light green (TD3/4) standard. \n\n\nThis course will run weekly from Sun
 day 28 September to Sunday 14 December 2025. Places are limited\, so pleas
 e only sign up if your child will be able to attend the majority of the se
 ssions.\n\nAll children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration o
 f the coaching\, up to a maximum of four children per adult. This is not 
 a drop-off service!\n\nSessions are primarily for children who are aged 9 
 to 14. If children are younger\, please check out Running Wild or get in c
 ontact with us (email juniors_families@lvo.org.uk) to find out other excit
 ing orienteering opportunities for them.\n\nWe'll meet at either at Tollym
 ore Forest Park's Main Carpark or Meelmore Lodge\, depending on the sessio

 ace 9.30am to 10.30am.\n\nOn the last Sunday of the month\, our monthly Ru
 nning Wild coaching will take place as normal 11am to 12.30pm for younger 
 orienteers.\n\n\nPrice\n💰 Training is free for members of LVO\, NIOA an
 d Orienteering Ireland. Non-members must join a club so they are insured.
  For 2025 membership\, JOIN HERE via the British Orienteering website\, se
 lecting LVO as your club. Cost after 1 September is £5.50 per junior.\n\n
 \nTerrain Summary\nTollymore forest is a great place to discover the sport
  of orienteering. It has a network of paths and tracks to help navigate\, 
 as well as runnable forest with a variety of features. The forest is popul
 ar with hikers\, runners\, dog walkers\, horse riders and mountain bikers\
 , so take care and treat others with courtesy.\n\n\nPrevious Maps/Routegad

 Courses\nThis week we will learning all about aiming off\, as explained i

 Here’s how aiming off works:\n\n 	When you’re navigating to a linear 
 feature (like a path\, stream\, or fence) near your control\, instead of 
 aiming directly for the control\, you deliberately aim slightly to one 
 side (left or right).\n 	This way\, when you hit the linear feature\, you
 ’ll know which direction to turn to reach the control\, because you’
 ll know which side of it you’re on.\n\n\n\n\nKit requirements\n🧥👖 
 Full body cover is mandatory. If the weather is cold or wet – a waterpro
 of jacket will be mandatory. As well as times of exercise there will be pe
 riods of coaching when you will be stationary\, so layer up – bring alon
 g an extra jumper\, a hat and gloves to keep comfortable. There is likely 
 to be a bag drop off point with a coach present or close by. NOTE: the clu
 b or coach is not responsible for the safe keeping of the kit\, it is drop
 ped off at your own risk\, so please leave any valuables in the car.\n\nAl
 l should carry whistles.\n\nBring a compass if you have one.\n\n\nParking\
 n£5 at entrance\; free if you have annual pass (cost of £40).\n\n\n\nToi
 lets\nBeside main carpark.\n\n\n
