 Forest Park Main Carpark\n\n\nEvent Format\n\nLagan Valley Orienteers invi
 tes you to a 12-week training course for 10s and over who are already orie
 nteering to a yellow standard (TD2) and want to progress quickly to orange
  / light green (TD3/4) standard. \n\n\nThis course will run weekly from S
 unday 28 September to Sunday 14 December 2025. Places are limited\, so ple
 ase only sign up if your child will be able to attend the majority of the 
 sessions.\n\nAll children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration
  of the coaching\, up to a maximum of four children per adult. This is no
 t a drop-off service!\n\nSessions are primarily for children who are aged 
 10 to 14. If children are younger\, please check out Running Wild or get i
 n contact with us (email juniors_families@lvo.org.uk) to find out other e
 xciting orienteering opportunities for them.\n\nWe'll meet at either at To
 llymore Forest Park's Main Carpark or Meelmore Lodge\, depending on the se

 Wednesday 24 September 2025\n\n\nStart Times\nCoaching takes place 9.30am 
 to 10.30am.\n\nOur monthly Running Wild coaching will take place as normal
  11am to 12.30pm for younger orienteers.\n\n\nPrice\n💰 Training is free
  for members of LVO\, NIOA and Orienteering Ireland. Non-members must joi
 n a club so they are insured. For 2025 membership\, JOIN HERE via the Brit
 ish Orienteering website\, selecting LVO as your club. Cost after 1 Septem
 ber is £5.50 per junior.\n\n\nTerrain Summary\nTollymore forest is a grea
 t place to discover the sport of orienteering. It has a network of paths a
 nd tracks to help navigate\, as well as runnable forest with a variety of 
 features. The forest is popular with hikers\, runners\, dog walkers\, hors
 e riders and mountain bikers\, so take care and treat others with courtesy

 he Map and Cutting Corners. This five-minute YouTube video helps explains 
 how to set the map. Cutting corners means choosing a straighter route betw
 een two points\, leaving a path to save on distance. It involves crossing 
 terrain such as open land\, forest\, dunes or hills. It can help reduce tr
 avel time\, but not always - it depends on the terrain you're crossing.\n\
 n\nKit requirements\n🧥👖 Full body cover is mandatory. If the weather
  is cold or wet – a waterproof jacket will be mandatory. As well as time
 s of exercise there will be periods of coaching when you will be stationar
 y\, so layer up – bring along an extra jumper\, a hat and gloves to keep
  comfortable. There is likely to be a bag drop off point with a coach pres
 ent or close by. NOTE: the club or coach is not responsible for the safe k
 eeping of the kit\, it is dropped off at your own risk\, so please leave a
 ny valuables in the car.\n\nAll should carry whistles.\n\nBring a compass 
 if you have one.\n\n\nParking\n£5 at entrance\; free if you have annual p
