ormat\n\nClub Score Championship\n\nAnyone can enter and enjoy a run but o
nly current LVO members can be classified as eligible/competitive for the
title of Club Score Champion. Note: membership renewal is due on the 1st J
anuary!\n\nIf you are fairly new to orienteering\, don’t let the sound o
f club championship put you off – there are 3 different courses to choos
e from and you are welcome to run round as a pair or family/friendship gro
up (although to be deemed competitive you need to enter as an individual).
\n\n⏰ A score event is different to a normal cross country orienteering
event in that\, there are a number of controls which you can visit in any
order you wish within a set time. Controls may be worth different values a
nd it is very unlikely that you will be able to visit them all. So\, you w
ill need to plan your best route to get back before the set time. Lateness
back will bring point penalties.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOnline Entry\n.\n\n\nSI Ent

family of individual runners and it comes to more than £20 (£30 for non

dividual Senior\, or Junior/Student entries and we will arrange refund of
the difference. Parents accompanying children go free.\n\nPlease note: Par
ticipants who are not members of British Orienteering or of another orient
eering federation are not covered by British Orienteering’s public liabi
lity insurance. You are welcome to enter this event\, but please understan
d that you are taking part at your own risk. For example\, if you were to
accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the e
vent\, you would not be covered. Members of Orienteering Ireland are cover
ed by British Orienteering insurance. \n\n\nTerrain Summary\nThe walled f
orest has been a great draw in recent years with the development of mounta
in bike trails and iconic adventure playground zones\, so as well as biker
s\, be prepared to meet giants\, castles and mythical creatures. Expect th
e place to be busy. The Estate covers an area of 240 hectares and its vari
ous owners have all had an impact on the place\, whether it was the Acheso
n’s and Earl’s of Gosford who built the Castle\, created the Deer Park
\, used the ponds to power a corn mill\, or planted the Arboretum which co
ntains many record trees\; the US army who are responsible for the firing
range and the remains of several gun emplacements\; the German POW’s who
built the small round tower in the main car park\; to the Forestry Servic
e who created several plantations\; and to the present owners ABC Council
who have added the MTB Trails and Play Zones. While mostly conifer\, the F
orest contains some beautiful huge specimen trees\, and some lovely runnab
le beech and oak plantations. You may even find your path littered with ex
panses of wild garlic in some places too.\n\n\nPrevious Maps/Routegadget\n
This area was last used for a LVO Autumn Trophy event in October 2023. Rou
tegadget map and courses can be found here: https://www.lvo.routegadget.co
.uk/rg2/#522\n\n\nCourse Notes\nTBC\n\n1️⃣ Young Junior Course 1 is su

⃣ Junior/Novice Senior Course 2 is suitable for improving Juniors and no
vice adults – the ability to use compass and navigate away from paths is
needed (technical difficulty 3/4). This is the MW12/14 Championship Cours
e and also has a time limit of 45 minutes.\n\n3️⃣ Senior Course 3 is s
uitable for competent orienteers (technical difficulty 4/5). Some controls

course has a time limit of 60 minutes.\n\nTime penalties – for every mi

. Look out for and give way to other forest users\, especially mountain bi

lakes/pools and steep banks near rivers/streams. Also take care in the c
ar-park and forest roads where it is always busy\, although courses are pl
anned to avoid any issues.\n\nThere will be a first aid and a qualified fi
rst aider available at registration. Registration is also a safe place for
lost children to wait.\n\nPlease do not come to the event if you are unwe
ll.\n\nPlease bring and carry any medication you might need\, especially i
nhalers and EpiPen’s.\n\nIf you come across an injured or ill person\, p
lease stop\, help and get further help. There will likely be qualified fir
st aiders on the course who can stop to provide support.\n\nAll participan

is to account for all competitors\, ensuring everyone’s safe return.\n\
nCourses will close and controls collected in at 12.30pm sharp. If you are
still out on the course at this time return to finish and download immedi
 ately.\n\n\nKit requirements\nFull body cover is mandatory.\n\nA whistle (
