n Summary\nWhitespots is a former lead mining area on the edge of the Clan
deboye Estate. Mining ended around 1910 but reminders of the industry can
still be seen today in the form of chimneys\, mine shafts – which are al
l fenced off – and spoil heaps.\n\nThe area consists of forest and open
areas with a lot of gorse. The area has an extensive path network due to b
ike trials being held here. Speed will not be your friend! This area was p
reviously a dumping site so be aware of any pieces of metal / scrap materi
al in the forested area.  Further to the north is the Clandeboye Estate w
hich is mostly forested with varying levels of runnability.\n\nThe area wa
s newly mapped in March 2023.  Please note that large areas of ferns have
been marked as “open area with scattered trees”.  Crags are not larg
e features but have been mapped and are consistent throughout the area.
It is very muddy underfoot and\, even if there is a dry spell before the e
vent\, wear appropriate footwear for slippery conditions.\n\nSummer growth
and autumn leaf fall means that some paths may not be so easy to follow.\
n\n\nPrevious Maps/Routegadget\nThis area was last used for NI Colour Seri
es event in November 2023. Routegadget map and courses can be found here:
