airn Wood is a delightful established forest – a mix of pine and deciduo
us – and very suitable for those competitors wishing to step up from lea
rning courses. Large and medium paths will help juniors\, and all routes l
ead back to the central main path to the car park. Don’t expect those sm
aller paths to be necessarily that distinct\, but there are some lovely fr
ee running areas\, criss-crossed with ditches and streams.\n\nA general hi
llside slopes up towards a quarry running along the south west. Much of wo
od to the south west has also been cut to leave open areas of high vegetat
ion. It is heavily used by dog walkers\, so please be careful at the start
and finish.\n\n\nPrevious Maps/Routegadget\nThis area was last used for a
n Autumn Trophy event in September 2023. Routegadget map and courses can b
 e found here: https://www.lvo.routegadget.co.uk/rg2/?#515\n\n\nCourse Note
s\n🟡 Yellow – km + m climb – along paths with more route choice dec
isions. Appropriate for newcomers and younger juniors with some experience
.\n🟠 Orange – km + m climb – skills needed to navigate away from pa
ths and more route choice decisions\, some compass skills are expected. Ai
med at novice adults and improving juniors.\n🟢 Light Green – km + m c
limb – this course requires confident map reading and compass skills.\n
🔵 Short Blue – km + m climb – technically and physically demanding
course.\n\n\nFirst Aid and Safety\nWatch out for other park users\, includ
ing dog walkers\, bikers and golfers.\n\nThere will be a first aid and a q
ualified first aider available at registration. Registration is also a saf
e place for lost children to wait.\n\nPlease do not come to the event if y
ou are unwell. Please bring and carry any medication you might need\, espe
cially inhalers and EpiPen’s.\n\nIf you come across an injured or ill pe
rson\, please stop\, help and get further help. There will likely be quali
fied first aiders on the course who can stop to provide support.\n\nAll pa
rticipants must return to download\, whether they complete the course or n
ot. This is to account for all competitors\, ensuring everyone’s safe re
turn.\n\nCourses will close and controls collected in at 3pm sharp. If you
are still out on the course at this time return to finish and download im
 mediately.\n\n\nKit requirements\nFull body cover is mandatory.\n\nA whist
