|Organiser||Jeff Johnston (e-mail)|
|Planner||Cecil Armstrong |
We had 102 competitors take on Cecilís two courses around Sir Thomas & Lady Dixon Park last night. 82 on the Long and 20 on the Short. Daniel Earnshaw once again took the top honours on the Long. Not bad for an M14! On the Short James Ewart (M10) completed his month of WEE with a win. Well done to all who took part.
Last nights event concludes the May League. Podium places on the Long:
1. Daniel Earnshaw
2. Declan McGrellis
3. Phil Stuart
And on the Short:
1. Rebecca Montgomery
2. Peter Gamble
3. James Ewart
3. Liam Hopkins
A huge thank you to all the volunteers listed below. Without your help the event would not have run so smoothly.
Look forward to next weeks activity at Antrim Hospital. Hopefully you will only get to view the grounds and not need to avail of any of the services!
Thanks to those who were kind enough to express their appreciation to everybody involved in putting on the event, but especially to those who gave up a substantial portion of their evening to help.
For various reasons I havenít planned an event in a few years and I found it a challenge to find courses that led Short runners through the maze of rosebeds in a comprehensible way and provided some challenge for the Long running Samurai. During a final survey on Sunday I persuaded myself to move Control 7 on the Long Course from where most competitors thought it should be to a bit further east, so apologies for that!
If you want to improve your map reading skills then course planning is the best possible way to do it, so give it a go for an August WEE or one of the training activities in the autumn.
Once again the WEE Series is back in the beautiful Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park on the Upper Malone Road in Belfast. It is advisable to wear leg cover, and appropriate footwear, as there may be some steep grassy banks on the course. We do ask that participants please stay out of the flower beds (especially the rose beds) during their run. Please also take care around the river bank and open water pond in the park (especially those running with small children).
Start & Finish are close to the MOO
As always these events would not go ahead if it wasn't for an army of volunteers.
If you have can lend a hand before or after your run please email me with your choice of job and preferred time.
Experience not necessary to volunteer as guidance will be given
|New runner registration
