Post-Event Report

Instructions

bfscastle The first event of the June WEE series moves to the grounds of one of Belfast’s most familiar landmarks – Belfast Castle. Overlooking the city from a prominent site 400 feet above sea level you will have an opportunity to negotiate interesting terrain on the slopes of Cave Hill.

There will be two courses available, called Long (the longer of the two) and Short (the shorter). Distances will be posted on here closer to the event. These are measured as the crow flies. Since you are hardly a crow, the distances for your route will be a bit longer, especially if you tend to wander.

Registration will be at the MOO, (chip van) from 6.30pm, starts from 6.45 ish -7.45pm and courses closing at 8.30.pm

Please note that if you pre-enter,you can pick up your control descriptions and proceed directly to the start. If you pre-enter and are hiring a dibber, you can collect it from the MOO. Otherwise, complete the registration form at the MOO and then enter on the night. For safety reasons, please give your name, dibber number and course to the marshal at the Start. If you are bringing a group, please let us know in advance as it speeds things up on the night.
Please watch out for other park users. Other orienteers are fair game for knocking over if they are the same size as you, but watch out for wee ones as we want to encourage them. Its just not nice to run into other park users either.

If this is your first event, don't worry - there will be plenty of people about to help you get started (and finished if needs be :).

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night!

Course length update - the long course is 3.1km and the short is 2.1 The planner recommends runners on the long course wear grippy shoes as it's a wee bit slippery out there.

Directions

Park at the Adventurous Playground Car Park (located in the grounds of Belfast Castle). Access to this car park is off the Antrim Road (A6). This road is signed with a brown sign indicating Adventurous Playground.
