LVO AGM at Woodburn

Annual General Meeting

This year’s annual general meeting will be on 11th March at 2.30 pm, after the NI Colour Series 2 event in Woodburn. It will be held in Woodburn Presbyterian Church Hall, Woodburn, Carrickfergus adjacent to the car park where registration will take place. Following the event, tea, coffee and biscuits will be available in the Church Hall.

The agenda for the meeting is available here. If you would like to add any items to the agenda please contact the Secretary Cecil Armstrong at secretary@lvo.org.uk or 078 1587 2010.

Please come along and hear about what’s been happening in the club and some of the achievements of club members in the last year.

The Committee would especially like to welcome those of you who have contributed to the club by volunteering to help run events in the last year. Your contribution is vital and much appreciated.

The minutes of last year’s meeting are here

Steve McGibbon Trophy

The Steve McGibbon Trophy is named in memory of a hugely respected orienteer and stalwart of the club, who was taken from us due to illness at an early age. Nominations are invited for this, the club’s most prestigious award, which is presented annually at the AGM. The trophy is not focussed on competition performance, rather the award is considered as recognition of the person or group thought to have provided the most outstanding contribution to the club’s affairs in the previous year.

Nominations should be sent to the Secretary, Cecil Armstrong, secretary@lvo.org.uk or 078 1587 2010, in advance of the meeting. Voting will take place at the AGM.

Election of Committee and Office Bearers

If you enjoy your orienteering and would like to see the sport grow and develop, why not consider joining the committee? It needn’t be onerous – there are a significant number of club members who contribute more to the club than most committee members, but it is an opportunity to contribute to the future of the sport. Please feel free to talk to any Committee member, without obligation, if this is of interest.

Adoption of Revised Constitution

One technical item of business is that we need to update our constitution so that we satisfy HMRC requirements for registration as a Community Amateur Sports Club, and to comply with the British Orienteering O-Safe Policy. A draft of the proposed constitution, with some explanatory notes, is given here. The Secretary would appreciate any comments or clarification, especially from those with expertise in such matters! Please provide any input by 4th March 2017.
