WEE 2 Barnett’s Park + More!

WEE 2 takes place at Barnett’s Demense this week. Details here. In the spirit of Graeme’s introduction of some new training elements I have homework for you! Have you ever done this? I’m a bit of an expert in doing this! I’ve added an article this morning to the Junior Orienteering Tips page, written from the pain of doing this many times, with a cunning plan on how to avoid it (from the menu choose “Juniors”, then “Orienteering Tips” and then click the link “Distance Judgement & Relocation in the Control Circle”, or just click here). It’s your homework – or Read More …

Score Training – Barnetts Demesne – Sun 29th Jan

Last chance to get your head around Score events before the LVO Champs on the 5th Feb and then the NI Champs on the 11th. 13:30 for a 14:00 start.  Same set up as last time.  A few minutes to plan your route with the map before a mass start, then 45 minutes to get as many as you can. Remember some controls are worth more points than others, but if you’re late back we take some of those hard earned points back.  See you all on Sunday. See Planners report here       https://lvo.org.uk/fixtures/score-training-2/

WENT 3 Barnett Demesne

Another fine night last week saw 28 club members and visitors enjoy a wide ranging and splashy run around Musgrave Park in the dark. Conor’s cunning plan successfully kept everyone going for the allotted 45 minutes despite the small size of the park. This week we meet in Barnett Demesne in the car park beside Malone House. Jeff Johnston is the master of ceremonies – meet at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm mass start. As usual the time limit will be 45 minutes and the cost £2 for members and £4 for visitors (this covers the cost of printing maps and Read More …

Beat the Street – Cards and Maps

If you are coming to Beat the Street activity on Saturday we have been able to source more cards and maps. So you don’t need to call at a library or Tesco in advance. Just come along to Orangefield Park at 11.30!

Last Chance to Beat the Street

With the postponement of the Donard Autumn Trophy on Saturday, if you had orienteering marked in your diary for the day, then here’s an alternative. You may be aware of Beat the Street which moves on from Belfast next Wednesday 2 November. Beat the Street is pretty similar to Street-O with Beat Boxes instead of controls attached to lampposts. Instead of a dibber you need a Beat the Street Card. The maps are also provided by Beat the Street. The control description is always “Lamppost”! So here’s the plan: Assemble at the Orangefield Park carpark at Houston Park, Belfast, BT5 6AT from 11.30am for Read More …
