Club score at Belfast Castle

Hope you all enjoyed the score at Belfast Castle today. Hopefully everyone took something away from the event. Getting back within the time is improving but I was surprised that so many headed north at the start. The southern route had, I felt, easier navigation and a more obvious route. CLUB SCORE 2018 – Sunday 4th February

45 minutes to visit 24 controls and get a maximum 460 points. Can you do it at Belfast Castle on Sunday 4th February? Register and park at the Adventurous Playground CarPark ready for a mass start at 2pm. Some controls easy and close to paths , others less so! Wear suitable footwear as off path is often muddy and slippery. Cost – Seniors £5, Juniors £3.

Beat the Street 2017

Well done to all 33 who took part, running to gain points for LVO. Today the club received £500 in Decathlon vouchers, plus a trophy, for finishing in second place on average points score.    Andrew, Angela, Mandy, Wilbert and Trevor represented LVO at the awards ceremony. Andrew, one of our newest members, amassed a massive 13,810 points cycling, and visiting all the beat boxes and in numerical order.   He visited all 373 boxes, covering a distance  of some 630 miles.  Susan, I hear,  visited all the boxes on foot.   Impressive indeed. These will be held in conjunction with the Tyrella event on November 11th. Details of age classes linked to colour courses will be published.

Pot Luck Relay

Sunday morning fun! The Pot Luck Relay at Tollymore Enter up to Sat evening. Choose a course- long 3.5km with 90m climb, medium 2.8km with 60m climb or short 1.8 km with 40 m climb. Draw made to select teams. Start and finish at monument with views of several controls. Cheer on your fellow team members.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Rachel Collins and Andrew Elwood who have been selected to compete for Ireland in the European Youth O Champs in Slovakia from June 29 – July 2. Also congratulations to Paul Pruzina who will compete in the Junior World Championships in Finland a week later. Not forgetting Olivia Baxter who heads to Estonia at the end of June to run in the sprint event at the World Championships.

NICS 2 – LVO – Woodburn Forest

LVO are hosting the second of this year’s Colour Series at Woodburn Forest, northwest of Carrickfergus. The assembly and car parking will be adjacent to Woodburn Presbyterian Church, 92 Woodburn Road, Carrickfergus, BT38 9AB. Follow the Woodburn Road from Carrickfergus or the Seskin Road from Straid. Registration is from 11.00. Start times are from 11.30 to 13.00 but remember the AGM starts at 2.30pm. Toilets will be available in the church hall.
