Castle Archdale Colour Series Event

Don’t forget the NI Colour Series Event at beautiful Castle Archdale, Co Fermanagh on the shores of Lough Erne this Saturday 21 October. Full details are on the FermO website. Remember that a Colour Series Event offers all colours so there is something for all abilities from beginning juniors to experienced seniors: White, Yellow, Orange, Long Orange, Light Green, Green, Blue and Brown all on offer. Meet at the Moira M1 Junction 9 (at the lay-by on the Moira side) at 10.00am on Saturday to share lifts.

Beat Your Way to Linda’s Kitchen

Beating the Street again this Sunday afternoon 15 October? Meet at Linda’s Kitchen, 26 Woodvale Road, Belfast, BT13 3BS at 2pm. Bring your Beat the Street card or fob and map if you have one, but if not we will have a supply available. Under 16s to be accompanied by an adult please. Beat the Street goes East again

This Sunday 8 October our Beat the Street Sunday Afternoon Session returns to East Belfast. Bring your map and card or fob if you have them. If not we’ll have a supply and give simple instruction how to play. All ages welcome, especially families. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. We are Beating the Street again this Sunday afternoon 1 October. Meet at Wholly Ground Coffee House, 143 Northumberland St, Belfast BT13 2JF. Turn up 13:30 reading for a 13:45 mass start score training; time limit 45 minutes. Beat the Street has started and the first of our Beat the Street Sunday Afternoon Sessions in partnership with Active Belfast is this Sunday 17 Sep. Meet up at 2.45pm at the brand new Girdwood Community Hub, 10 Girdwood Ave, Belfast, BT14 6EG. Girdwood Community Hub is between Antrim Road and Cliftonpark Avenue. Special Mourne Event for Orienteers

Our friends at the Mourne Mountain Marathon have created a course specially for orienteers. It’s a One Day Score Course on Saturday 16 September. Entries are for a team of 2 but we only have a few teams of orienteers already entered. and entries close this Saturday 9 September.  If you are keen to run but haven’t someone to run with of a similar ability, please do email Stephen immediately and by midnight on Tues 5 September, who will create a list of those interested with suggested pairings.

Beat the Street is Coming!

You may have heard of Beat the Street which came to the greater Belfast area last autumn. It’s coming back again this year and LVO have formed a partnership with Beat the Street to encourage active participation with a grant from Active Belfast. So what exactly is Beat the Street? It could be best described to an orienteer as a gigantic semi-permanent urban score course with electronic punching. Podium Place for LVO at the Scottish Six Days

With 4 days of the 6 days completed of which the best 6 count, we can confirm that LVO will be on the podium.  Wilbert Hollinger recorded first place at the “rest day” Trail-O, after making a quick dash from the Sprint event in the town of Ballater to Cambus o’May forest where he came first on the elite course. Wilbert was the only competitor to achieve 18 out of 20 controls.
