NWOC invite you to run off the turkey!

Our friends at NWOC traditionally run a post-Christmas event in the Limavady area. This year the venue is Roe Valley Country Park on Monday 27 December. An invitation is extended to LVO, but do check the event details on the NWOC website, as advance entry is required by Christmas Eve on SI Entries.

Still seeking if there is any interest to participate in the Score class at the Mourne Mountain Marathon on 11 Sep. Don’t let the word “marathon” put you off as this is a one day event lasting 6 hours starting at Attical between 09:00 and 10:00 You collect as many or as few controls as you wish. Score in the Mournes

The Mourne Mountain Marathon has a one day score class on Saturday 11 September, ideally suited to most orienteers. It’s a 6 hour time limit with a 15km shortest route, which would make for a great day out with a mix of walk and jog. Problem is that entries are in pairs. So how about if anyone interested puts their names forward and then we can suggest pairings – ie matching those of similar speed, but it could also mean linking a novice navigator with some more experienced. It’s this Wednesday evening with registration again at Tim Horton’s Connswater by 7pm as part of the WOW Winter Orienteering Wednesdays. See if you can solve this week’s cool riddle as well as enjoying the Sporteering. Also note the the East Belfast map has been upgraded to the new ISSprOM2019 standard. Check Your Trophy Cabinet!

For those of you fortunate enough to have a trophy cabinet, would you please check for any NI trophies you are holding ie NI Champs, NI Score or NI Night. Please bring them on Saturday at Hillsborough and either give them to Ann Savage or leave in the MOO. If you have a LVO trophy, you can hold on to that a little longer!

Can You have Your Orienteering AND Eat Your Donut?

Yes you can! This Wednesday evening 2 October at our Sporteering session starting from Tim Hortons, Tim Horton’s, Connswater Retail Park, Belfast, BT5 5DL. Meeting at 7pm to go to the start. All you need to know is here. Please read carefully if you haven’t been to Sporteering before. (If you’ve been before and know the set up don’t forget your head torch and high viz. It’s getting dark!) And do have a think about which donut you prefer – one with a hole or a soft gooey centre!!
