Tollymore Festival of Orienteering 2018 – Thank-you

From Gordon Stephens – Co Ordinator 2018 Tollymore Festival of Orienteering.

I hope everyone enjoyed the 2018 Tollymore Festival. A huge personal thanks to everyone who contributed so willingly to what turned out to be a great weekend of orienteering in some very fine weather. Thanks to everyone who turned up and supported the weekend.

A special thanks to our main officials.

  • Stephanie Pruzina organised the Friday evening Urban event in Ballynahinch and Helen Pruzina planned some excellent courses.  This new map was created by Stephen Gilmore.
  • Davy Lambe organised Saturdays colour series at Slievenagore (Silent Valley), having to do battle with the permissions required. Susan did an excellent job of planning the multiple courses which were on offer. Richard Williamson controlled.
  • Alan Gartside put on a challenging Trail – O single handed in Tollymore.
  • Bill Simpson planned and tagged the Sunday score activity in Tollymore Forest.

Thanks are due to all those volunteers who supported – and there were many – in order to make a busy weekend happen. I can’ t name everyone here but there were a lot of people who rolled up their sleeves and got stuck in to help.  There were those operating in the MOO – I must give special mention to Mark Pruzina for his special talents which make it all appear to work so seamlessly. There were the control collectors, control setters and those who manned the starts. Thanks to those who were involved in the MOO towing and transfer logistics. Barbeque was provided by The Mulberry Tree in Seaforde.

I do hope everyone had a good time. We look forward to next year’s event. The date for your diary is likely to be 21st to 23rd June 2019.

Thanks again, Gordon Stephens

[Editors note – and a big, big thank-you to you, Gordon and Marlene, from all of us who participated – great event.]
