On Saturday before the score race at Crawfordsburn there will be the chance to warm up  by taking part in some compass and pacing practice. This will involve maps with only the control circles and connecting lines left on them. All other detail will have been removed. The challenge will be to stay on the right bearing and pace out the correct distance to find a small kite that will not be very visible from a distance. There could be the odd obstacle in the way to spice it up.

Although this training is for our juniors it is open to anyone. The start will be opposite the entrance to the Scout Centre. Participants are asked to stay on the road from the car parks when walking to the start and not to stray into the main race area. The training will be available from 1100 to 1145 leaving plenty of time to be ready for the main score start at 1200, which is close by. There are a number of the compass and pacing courses available and each is in the area of 400m long so will only take a few minutes to complete.
