Event Description
Friday’s urban race uses a new map of Newry centre and should provide interesting orienteering.
Date/Time: 17/06/2016 – 18:30 – 21:00
Location: Town Center
Parking and finish at the big car park adjacent to Newry Bus Centre
GPS coordinates: 54°10’28.4″N 6°20’25.3″W
Start 5 min walk
Simplest way to get there is to exit A1 Newry bypass at junction signposted to Daisy Hill Hospital,
then follow the link bellow:
Toilets available at Newry Bus centre (open till 8pm) and at Buttercrane Shopping Centre.
Starts from 19:00 until 20:00 – courses close 21:00.
Entries will be available on the night.
3 Courses available
Short: 2.0 km 9 controls 10m climb
Middle: 3.5 km 14 controls 90m climb
Long: 5.0 km 15 controls 150m climb
Important safety notice:
All courses cross roads with minor traffic.
Through the middle of the map is the main dual carriageway. This road is marked as out of bounds.
The Short course does not cross this road.
The Middle and Long courses cross the dual carriageway twice. You must use the 2 underpasses as marked on the map, crossing the road at surface level is extremely dangerous. You won’t gain any competitive advantage and will be penalised by disqualification.
