Event Description

Friday’s urban race uses a map of Newry city centre and should provide interesting orienteering. Parking and finish at the big carpark adjacent to Newry Bus Centre.

Toilets available at Newry Bus Centre (open till 8pm) and at the Buttercrane Shopping Centre.

Starts

Start: 5 min walk.

Starts from 18:30 until 20:00 – courses close 21:00. Entries will be available on the night.

3 Courses Available

• Short: 2.0 km
• Middle: 3.5 km
• Long: 5.0 km

Important safety notice

All courses cross roads with minor traffic.

Through the middle of the map runs the main dual carriageway. This road is marked as out of bounds.

The Short course does not cross this road.

Juniors can entry Short course only!

The Middle and Long courses cross the dual carriageway twice. You must use the two underpasses as marked on the map. Crossing the road at surface level is extremely dangerous! You won’t gain any competitive advantage and will be penalised by disqualification.
