Event Description

Saturday’s Urban Sprint is being run on the new Drumgor Estate map in Craigavon. Yes folks – another brand new map to challenge us! The competition area is adjacent to the City Park (Craigavon Lakes) with parking and registration at the Watersports Centre (BT64 1AS, ‘Lakes Roundabout’ on the A3 Lurgan to Portadown Road).

You don’t need to be an expert to compete! There are courses for everyone. Come along and try your hand at an Urban Sprint event.

The competition takes place in modern housing estates with pedestrian and cycle paths, alleyways, and open spaces. Most of the hard surfaces are tarmacadam but many of the paths are made of paving slabs that can become treacherous when wet. Most of the courses are on hard surfaces but some routes could be over open grassland. Select your footwear carefully.

The event is a ‘double header’, with the morning Prologue determining your start position in the main event in the afternoon. If you are unable to compete in the morning, you can still get a run by entering the Non Competitive Sprint, which will run concurrently with the main event but on a separate course.

Also taking place on Saturday is an IOA Sprint Selection Race at 14:00, just before our main event. Come along and see how an urban sprint course should be run! Unfortunatly you won’t be allowed into the competition area itself as the area will be used for our own courses.

There are toilets and a small cafe in the Watersports centre.

If you have any questions, please call the Organiser, Harry Bell, on 07841 996 555.
