Terrain Notes
This is a classic and very good orienteering area. It is a hilly but generally very runnable mature coniferous forest with many paths and roads. There is an area of tough running peat moorland; only visited by the longer courses. There are numerous indistinct mountain bike routes some of which are unmapped. Care may be needed if streams are in spate and at a 5m Crag control site which is heavily overgrown; avoid crossing warning tapes (yellow and black); red and white tapes indicate a v.steep descent/ascent route on the southern edge of the crag.
