Event Description
The first of the 2015 NI Colour Series will be hosted by NWOC. This will count towards the Colours of Spring series as well as the overall series so would be a good one to attend. As with all events, there will be courses to suit all standards so do not be put off if you are a new orienteer – come along and try it.

Drumnaph Wood and Wetland, Nr. Maghera ( 1:7500) New map surveyed in 2014. Contour interval 2.5m.

Directions: From the Glenshane Pass turn into Maghera. Turn left and travel along the Tirkane Road for 3 miles. Turn right and travel along the Halfgayne Road for 1 mile. The entrance to the car park is on your right.
Registration: The registration will be in an outbuilding beside the finish. All other buildings are strictly out of bounds. Registration opens at 10.30am. A toilet is available at registration. Start and Finish will be close to car parking and registration Starts from 11.30 –1.00pm. Courses close at 3.00pm If both parents would like to run then we should be able to start one parent before 11.00am. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
Terrain: The area is a mixture of wood, marsh land and fields with a good path network in most areas. The ground is often very wet so using paths will always be the best option over long legs. Most walls, fences and hedges will be difficult to cross. A bend in the line between controls will suggest a possible route through the boundary. Crossing points must be used.
