Event Description
Our exciting Autumn programme kicks off in beautiful Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor. We’re delighted to host in conjunction with our hub Tollymore Orienteers.
This event offers 3 courses, all superbly planned by Moire O’Sullivan of Tollymore Orienteers. She has been mentored by Philip Baxter (LVO) and you are sure to enjoy the challenge. As always we welcome beginners, newcomers & families. Get started on one of the shorter courses, or test yourself on the longest course.
Note this event is on Sunday 9th (originally advertised as the Saturday), and timings are later than usual as a result:
- Registration opens 1pm
- Starts from 1:30pm to 3pm
- Courses close 5pm
Parking (P) is in the Mountain Bike Car Park – on the left as you drive into Kilbroney. Before the main car park
Registration (R) is in the small lower car park – where Rostrevor parkrun meets. It’s a 5 minute walk from the car park
Toilets (T) are available at the cafe building
Food! – the cafe is open in the park, and there are excellent cafes within walking distance in Rostrevor village as well.
Course details are as follows:
- Yellow 1.9k & 35m climb
- Orange 2.7k & 85m climb
- Green 3.5k & 110m climb

I’m looking forward to the event. The Sunday switch still fits my schedule. I may try to drag in a few coworkers for the fun. The yellow and orange courses should suit them. Regardless, I should be there. I’m looking forward to doing some exploring in the area.

Hi all, yes we’re moving to Sunday 9th Sept, with registration from 1:30pm. I’ve had a sneak preview of Moire’s courses and it’s going to be a lot of fun!

Peter, look forward to seeing you there. Kilbroney is beautiful parkland & forest, and if you get the chance to explore up to the Cloughmore Stone (not on your course!!), hopefully the effort will be rewarded with amazing views across Carlingford Lough.

I’m visiting from the US from 7-14 September and am interested in the 8 September orienteering event. Can you tell me what the format is for the Autumn Trophy series? Do I need to pre-register, or can I file paperwork and pay the day of the event?

You can turn up and pay on the day. No need to pre-register.
